Heritage Days
This is an annual county festival for those with eastern Kentucky heritage or an interest in genealogy. Local vendors are welcome to set up to sell items. Young people are given the opportunity to enter contests and win cash and prizes for excellence in academic areas such as math, spelling, essay writing and art. Pageants are held for boys age of 1 day to fourteen and for girls from age one day to twenty six years. A parade and historic exhibitions are all a part of the Heritage Days Festivities. There is also a pet show sponsored by the Magoffin County 4-H program.
Street Dance
Each year the intersection surrounding the downtown courthouse is blocked off to allow for a county wide square dance. The festivities usually last well into the night.
Independence Day Festival
Each year Independence Day is celebrated with a parade and pageants.
Pioneer Village
Near downtown Salyersville there is a collection of 15 log cabins that have been restored by the efforts of the Magoffin County Historical Society. These cabins all contain exhibits of pioneer life. Often there are demonstrations of pioneer activities and crafts. All the cabins are original and some even date back to the early 1800's. Cabins that are donated are carefully disassembled, cleaned, transported, and reassembled at the Pioneer Village site.
